Congo is a kickboxer turned mixed martial artist. Not much was known of the 6’4” 240-pound Paris-native when he made his UFC 61 debut in July of 2006 against Gilbert Aldana. He had an impressive record and a stellar reputation as a fearsome kickboxer, but many wondered if he could compete in the MMA arena. He answered that question quickly as he halted the rugged Aldana in the first round. Kongo then jumped back and scored another first round stoppage at UFC 62, this one over Christian Wellisch. At UFC 70, the same night that Cro Cop was taken down, Kongo triumphed with a majority decision over popular Brazilian heavyweight Assuerio Silva, scoring his third win in the UFC.

I have 4 more fights to come and i will do them all.

Mirko had the worst case scenario in the fight with Gonzaga. Gonzaga controlled the whole fight and after 4 minutes and 51 second Gonzaga unleashed devastating right high kick which landed on Mirko's head knocking him down. Mirko was up on his feet after few minutes and he was feeling ok. What is next for Mirko after this knockout we don't know, we hope that he will come back stronger than before and that he will be best heavyweight in UFC one day.

Gabriel Gonzaga-Nogueira (born May 18, 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) known as Gabriel Gonzaga is a Mixed Martial Arts competitor currently competing in the UFC. His MMA record is currently 7-1-0. He made his MMA Debut on April 4th, 2003 in Santos, Brazil against Cicero Cicero. He would win via submission from strikes in the first round. He would go on to competing over the next two years winning three more bouts and losing one. He made his UFC debut at UFC 56 knocking out Kevin Jordan at 4:39 of the third round. Although the knockout was considered a excellent finish, the fight was considered uneventful. Gonzaga's poor performance was due to complications during his wife's pregnancy that resulted in her near death and the death of one of the twin girls she was carrying. This occurred a few weeks before the match was scheduled to take place and as he was caring for his wife Gonzaga was unable to properly train for the fight. He would later return at UFC 60 winning against Fabiano Scherner via TKO at the second round. At UFC 66 he would end Carmelo Marrero's undefeated winning streak in the first round from an armbar. The official NSAC medical report following UFC 66 showed that his full name is Gabriel Gonzaga-Nogueira leading many fans to nickname him Half-Nog.

Crocop's UFC debut was successful, Mirko won in 1st round by TKO, not leaving time for Sanchez to do something seriously. Sanchez gassed out quickly after few Crocops punches and kicks and after Mirko went to mount position all Sanchez could do was to wait for referee to end the fight.

Hear few words from Eddie Sanchez on his upcoming fight with Crocop here
December 28th, 2006
Crocop has signed for UFC! Crocop has signed 2 years, 6 fights contract for UFC organization and his debut will be in Las Vegas February 3rd against undefeated Eddie Sanchez. There is also big possibility that Crocop will face an UFC HW champion in his 3rd UFC bout.
December 02nd, 2006
Is Mirko going to UFC? Apparently UFC is offering Mirko million $ for just signing a contract, 1.2 million for first two fights and another 2 millions for 2 more fights. It sounds unbelievably, especially because UFC HW champion Tim Sylvia earned around 120.000$ for his last fight.
Mirko said: Whoever saw this contract offer was probably mistaken by one zero in the numbers. That are big numbers, even boxers dont get that amount of money today. UFC is interested in me but i didnt sign or oblige for anything yet.

Crocop is fighting at Grand Prix! DSE and Crocop finally came to a compromise, they arranged all details about the finances. DSE realised that Crocop's absence would be a huge loss to the organization and how much is Crocop worth to them. Crocop had few words about that: "I am satisfied that i found an agreement with Pride. That means i will have a chance to achieve my dream, becoming the absolute champion in competition of Silva, Barnett and Minotauro"
If Crocop makes the finals the final fight will also be payed to him and if he wins the tournament he will get extra 150.000$.

Crocop may not be fighting at upcoming Grand Prix. Crocop and DSE had some troubles arranging the financial details about the fight. Crocop said he was sorry and that he has lack of patience for DSE executives. He is considering the offer from WFA organisation which he will probably accept if the deal with Pride goes down.

Silva debuted in PRIDE at the PRIDE 7 event on September12,  1999,  winning against Carl Malenko by decision.  From 1999 to 2004,  Silva won 20 straight fights in PRIDE,  excluding a draw against Mirko "CroCop" Filipović,  and a no contest against Gilbert Yvel (Yvel was accidentally kicked in the groin).  Silva's reputation as a formidable MMA fighter grew as he developed a successful record in PRIDE.
Silva fought Kazushi Sakuraba for the first time at PRIDE 13: Collision Course on March 25,  2001.  Silva won by TKO via strikes at 1:38 into the first round.  At PRIDE 17: Championship Chaos on November 3,  2001,  Silva won the title of PRIDE Middleweight Champion by defeating Sakuraba for the second time.  Sakuraba suffered a broken clavicle and withdrew after the first round,  giving Silva a TKO win via doctor's stoppage.  The two fought for the third time on August 10,  2003 at PRIDE Grand Prix 2003: Total Elimination,  a Middleweight tournament.  Silva knocked out Sakuraba with two punches at 5:01 into the first round.
Silva faced Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at PRIDE Grand Prix 2003: Final Conflict on November 9,  2003.  Silva won by TKO due to referee's stoppage after delivering 17 consecutive knees to Jackson; Silva became PRIDE's 2003 tournament champion with the win.  When the two fought again on October 31,  2004 at PRIDE 28: High Octane,  Silva knocked out Jackson by knees in a clinch.
Silva's other notable wins in PRIDE include Guy Mezger (2001,  KO),  Dan Henderson (2001,  decision),  Hidehiko Yoshida (twice,  2003 and 2005,  via decisions),  and Yuki Kondo (2004,  KO) among others.  In Japan,  Silva additionally gained his reputation as a fighter who has never been defeated by any Japanese opponent,  resulting in a trend of various Japanese fighters being arranged by PRIDE to face him.
Silva's undefeated streak in PRIDE was broken by Mark Hunt,  a K-1 Grand Prix champion,  on December 31,  2004 at the Shockwave 2004 event.  Hunt won the non-title match by split decision over Silva.  The decision was controversial because some felt that Hunt's weight at 250 lb (113 kg),  or nearly 50 pounds over Silva,  as well as Silva's dominance in round 3,  had not been sufficiently considered by the judges in their decision; Randy Couture and Bas Rutten,  both being commentators at the event,  expressed disagreement over the decision.
Silva's current,  continuing status as PRIDE's Middleweight champion has recently come under debate and criticism,  due to his loss to Ricardo Arona (who subsequently lost the tournament to Silva's teammate and protege,  Mauricio "Shogun" Rua) on August 28,  2005 at PRIDE Grand Prix 2005: Final Conflict.  The loss,  by unanimous decision in the tournament semi-finals,  was Silva's first defeat in a Middleweight match in PRIDE; however,  since it was not a title fight,  Silva was still recognized as the Middleweight Champion.  A rematch between Arona and Silva took place at the Shockwave 2005 event December 31,  2005,  with Silva winning by split decision.
As of May 18,  2006,  Silva has been announced by DSE to replace PRIDE Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko in the Open Weight Grand Prix.  Emelianenko's doctors have stated that his hand,  which had recently undergone surgery,  would not be in good enough shape to fight because the metal implant would still be present.  Because Silva is also a champion (Middleweight division),  he gets a first round bye and will automatically fight in the second round,  which takes place on July 1st,  2006.
Silva moved to the semi-finals of the Open Weight Grand Prix after defeating Kazuyuki Fujita by TKO via strikes.
